How to Evaluate Before and After Photos

Not all before and after photographs tell the same story. When reviewing results — from any surgeon or clinic — it is worth keeping a few things in mind.

Consistency of photography matters. Standardised frontal, profile, and base views, taken in consistent lighting and at the same distance, allow you to make meaningful comparisons. Selective lighting, angles, or filters can misrepresent results significantly.

Look for results similar to your own goals. A stunning hump reduction result tells you little about a surgeon’s tip work. Ask specifically for cases similar to what you are seeking.

Natural appearance should be the goal. The best rhinoplasty results do not look operated. They look like the patient simply grew up with a nose that suits their face perfectly. If results consistently look pinched, artificial, or dramatically different from the patient’s ethnic features in an incongruous way, those are warning signs.

Ask about timelines. Results photographed at six months will look different from results at 18 months. Ask when the after photographs were taken.
